Call for Papers and Panels

Southwest Communication Association

Building Bridges not Walls

Students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty, staff and professionals from all parts of the American Southwest are encouraged to attend the 2020 meeting of the Southwest Communication Association.  The meeting will be held at Glendale Community College.  Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and we will wrap up by 4:30 p.m.

Events include a keynote lecture, graduate and undergraduate student panels dealing with diverse topics in Communication, a planning meeting for the 2021 conference, lunch, and a lot of informal conversation.

Please submit the following:

  • Complete research papers on relevant topics in Communication Studies or related fields. Please identify if this was written for a class and list the instructor.

  • Thematic panels with a moderator and presenters. Please send in a panel title, individual paper/presentation titles, and an abstract describing the purpose of the panel.

  • G.I.F.T.S presentation proposals (five-minute long examples of successful instructional assignments used in public speaking courses: Great Ideas for Teaching Speech)

Marie Baker-Ohler (Northern Arizona University) no later than Monday, March 16.  Submissions should be sent to marie.baker-ohler@nau.edu , and place SWCA Submission in the subject line.

Students and faculty members from colleges and universities with an institutional membership in the SWCA do not pay any registration fees.

Institutional fees are $300 for two-years!  A bargain considering all of your faculty and students can attend the conference for free.

For conference attendees from non-affiliated institutions, registration fees are $40 for faculty, $10 for students.
